Intact’s Global Specialty Lines business spans across more than 20 verticals in four distinct markets: U.S., Canada, UK and Europe. The following opportunity is for our U.S. team.

We currently have an opportunity for a Coverage Counsel to join our Claims team in our Plymouth, MN office on a hybrid schedule or located remotely nationwide. Some of the Coverage Counsel responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Reviews assigned moderately complex insurance coverage matters to determine contractual obligations.
• Recommends additional investigation as appropriate.
• Identifies and documents controlling legal issues.
• Performs legal research to identify and analyze similar issues and recommend courses of action.
• Draws on inductive/deductive reasoning from case law to determine the company's contractual obligations.
• Communicates findings via correspondence and formal legal opinions, capable of being admissible in court.
• Assists with the direction and implementation of claims litigation strategy.
• Prepares and delivers targeted training to Claims staff on state-specific and/or industry-wide legal issues related to coverage and claim handling.
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of competitive, regulatory and legal environments and applies this information effectively.
• May provide direct assistance to internal coverage litigation team on litigated matters against the company, including but not limited to conducting research and drafting motions and legal briefs.
• Informs Chief Claims Counsel and other senior management of important litigation issues.

• 3-5 years of legal experience with insurance coverage analysis and/or litigation, preferably with a law firm or an in-house position in the insurance industry.
• Experience with research and drafting legal coverage evaluations, preferably with experience analyzing the laws of multiple jurisdictions.
• JD required and admitted in good standing to practice law in at least one state.
• Experience in adjusting insurance claims preferred.

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires; however, your recruiter will provide more specific compensation details during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $107,000 - $151,000 based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA;
Washington DC; our Massachusetts based offices and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $ 135,000 - $158,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
