Douglas Elliman is one of the largest residential brokerage companies in the United States, with operations in about a dozen states. The Company also provides other real estate services, including development marketing, property management, and settlement and escrow services in select markets. The Company has approximately 6,500 agents and hundreds of employees who require the assistance of the Legal department daily.

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Associate Counsel will play a critical role in a fast‑paced and action‑oriented legal department supporting the Company’s residential real estate brokerage business. The Associate Counsel will be responsible for reviewing and drafting demand letters and correspondence related to real estate disputes, drafting and revising contracts including brokerage agreements and non‑disclosure agreements, managing outside litigation, and handling internal dispute resolution matters with clients, brokers, third parties, and Company agents.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience, preferably with a boutique real estate law firm that routinely handles residential real estate brokerage law in a transactional capacity or with another in‑house real estate brokerage company. It is important that the candidate have a deep knowledge of brokerage law in New York and ideally in other states in which the Company operates.

Some litigation experience will be helpful but less critical given the litigation experience of the rest of the team. Strong legal judgment, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment are essential.

In‑office role at the Company’s office located at 575 Madison Avenue, New York, NY, with flexibility for some remote work.

$200K-$220K with target $50,000 bonus.
