Unit attorney

Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) is a non‑profit organization dedicated to providing legal assistance and advocacy for low‑income individuals and families. We work to ensure access to justice and fair treatment in the areas of housing, consumer rights, family law, and other essential legal services.

JALA seeks a Florida‑licensed attorney to provide civil legal services in our Housing Unit. The role is full‑time, based out of our downtown office, primarily serving Duval County residents. The position is expected to grow and adapt practice to the needs of the community and the organization.

What You Do

• Provide civil legal services to low‑income clients in the Housing Unit.
• Interview and counsel clients on housing and related issues.
• Represent clients in federal and state courts, taking on challenging cases for at‑risk clients.
• Work under the supervision of experienced litigators, receiving mentorship and support.
• Participate in local and statewide committees and professional‑building activities.

Salary/Benefits

• Salary commensurate with experience; $70,000 yearly minimum DOE.
