Position: Corporate Counsel - U.S. Employment Law (REMOTE)

Overview

Revvity is seeking a full-time attorney to work within its legal department reporting to the VP, General Counsel. While this attorney will have the opportunity to support various business needs, their primary focus will be serving as a key legal partner for US and Canadian employment law matters. This role will work collaboratively with Human Resources and business leaders to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice.

A key requirement for this position is expertise in California employment law. We are seeking a highly motivated, independent individual who not only excels in their specialty but is also eager to take initiative, expand their horizons, and contribute to other areas of the business as they grow in their role. This role may be fully remote or hybrid if local to Boston/Waltham.

Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as a legal advisor to the Human Resources team and business managers on all aspects of the employment lifecycle, including recruiting, hiring, performance management, discipline, accommodations, leaves of absence, and terminations.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable US federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, WARN Act), with a strong, demonstrated focus on California-specific laws (e.g., FEHA, CFRA, PAGA, wage and hour).
  • Provide practical legal advice and support on Canadian federal and provincial employment standards and related legislation.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of employment-related agreements, including offer letters, confidentiality agreements, separation and release agreements, and settlement agreements.
  • Investigate and respond to pre-litigation matters, including demand letters and administrative agency charges (e.g., EEOC, DOL, California CRD, etc.).
  • Manage and partner with outside counsel on employment-related litigation and arbitration matters, controlling costs and driving strategy.
  • Develop, update, and implement employment policies, procedures, and employee handbooks to ensure legal compliance and reflect best practices.
  • Create and deliver training to HR and managers on key employment law topics, such as harassment prevention, wage and hour compliance, and managing accommodations
  • Actively identify, create, and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the legal department and the handling of employment-related matters,
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the legal department and assist on projects as needed, including in other legal areas such as commercial, privacy, or general corporate matters, as the role evolves.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned or requested, as knowledge of the business and legal skills evolve.
Basic Qualifications
  • JD from accredited law school.
  • Admission in good standing to at least one US state bar.
  • A minimum of 3+ years’ employment law experience, ideally within the pharma or broader life sciences sector.
  • Expertise in California employment law is essential.
  • Experience advising on multi-state US employment issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior in-house legal experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to determine risk exposure and advise the business in a practical, solutions-oriented manner, balancing legal risks with business needs.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-dimensional projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders across various functions.
  • Prior in-house legal experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Canadian employment law.
  • Strong project and process management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects, as well as a wide range of tasks
