Position Overview

Children First Family Law, PC, is looking to hire a family law paralegal with at least 5‑10+ years of experience in family law whose values align with those of our company. The Senior Family Law Paralegal provides advanced legal, administrative, and litigation support to attorneys in complex domestic relations matters in Colorado. This role requires substantial independent judgment, deep knowledge of Colorado family law statutes and procedures, and the ability to manage a high‑volume caseload involving dissolution of marriage, allocation of parental responsibilities, post‑decree litigation, protection orders, complex financial cases, and contested evidentiary hearings.

Responsibilities
  • Case Management & Client Support
    • Manage full lifecycle of domestic relations cases (pre‑filing through permanent orders and post‑decree).
    • Conduct detailed client intakes, gather preliminary information, and assist in identifying case strategy and needs.
    • Serve as primary liaison for clients, providing updates, information requests, and procedural guidance.
    • Track deadlines under the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure, Colorado Rules of Evidence, and local district court practices.
    • Maintain and organize digital case files, pleadings, discovery responses, expert reports, and correspondence.
  • Drafting & Preparation of Legal Documents
    • Draft high‑level family law pleadings with minimal supervision, including petitions, responses, and other filings.
    • Prepare sworn financial statements, separation agreements, parenting plans, certificates of compliance, and mandatory disclosures.
    • Handle discovery requests and responses (interrogatories, admissions, production).
    • Draft motions (e.g., to restrict parenting time, to modify orders, to continue, to compel).
    • Prepare pre‑trial filings, trial management orders, witness/exhibit lists.
    • Subpoenas, comprehensive financial disclosures, trial notebooks, exhibit binders, and evidentiary packets.
  • Advanced Litigation Support
    • Assist attorneys in preparation for mediation, settlement conferences, and contested hearings.
    • Conduct factual and legal research—including statutory, case law, and local court practice research.
    • Prepare timelines, issue charts, summaries of evidence, and demonstrative exhibits.
    • Support attorneys at trial exhibit management, witness coordination, and note‑taking for evidentiary issues.
  • Work With Third‑Party Professionals
    • Coordinate with CFIs, PREs, CLRs, GALs, parenting coordinators, decision‑makers, substance‑use evaluators, DVOMB evaluators, mental health professionals, business valuation experts, forensic accountants, and appraisers.
  • Discovery & Disclosure Management
    • Independently manage discovery workflows, including drafting, organizing, reviewing, and summarizing large sets of evidence.
    • Oversee compliance with C.R.C.P. 16.2 mandatory disclosures and supplemental disclosures.
    • Identify gaps in production and advise attorneys on motions to compel or sanctions issues.
    • Coordinate and schedule depositions; prepare deposition summaries.
  • Financial Analysis & Support
    • Perform preliminary financial reviews and analyses of income documentation, business financials, retirement valuations, and property division spreadsheets.
    • Prepare comparison charts of competing financial proposals.
    • Draft initial and revised support calculations for attorney review.
  • Court Coordination & Filing
    • Prepare and file documents via Colorado Courts e‑filing (CCE), ensuring compliance with formatting, service, and procedural rules.
    • Maintain internal docketing and tickler systems for statutory deadlines, disclosures, and court‑ordered tasks.
