A business development programme supporting small and growing companies is seeking a knowledgeable and accessible Remote Part-Time Attorney
, to provide ad-hoc legal assistance across a range of HR, commercial, and compliance functions. This role is ideal for a practising attorney or highly experienced legal secretary familiar with employment agreements, consulting contracts, Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), and debt collection processes. The consultant will work across multiple small businesses—most of which are early-stage companies that are formalising their internal operations.
The role requires someone who can draft, review, and improve legal templates, provide practical guidance, and support these businesses in becoming legally compliant and well-structured.
Responsibilities:
Contracts & Documentation- Draft and review employment contracts, consulting contracts, and master templates for small businesses.
- Update and standardise policies, procedures, and employee handbooks to ensure compliance.
- Review existing company documents and recommend improvements or risk mitigation measures.
- Review OHS documentation and basic compliance requirements relevant to small businesses.
- Assist companies in implementing foundational OHS procedures and ensuring alignment with legislative requirements.
- Prepare and issue Letters of Demand, payment reminders, and basic debt collection notices.
- Provide guidance on next steps for unpaid accounts (before escalation to attorneys where needed).
- Assist business owners with general legal compliance queries relating to HR, operations, and business processes.
- Provide guidance on legal risks and basic statutory requirements relevant to SMEs.
- Support the programme organiser with reviewing templates, contracts, and legal frameworks for participating businesses.
- Qualified Attorney or experienced Legal Secretary with relevant exposure to HR and commercial documentation.
- Solid understanding of employment legislation, contract drafting, and OHS basics.
- Experience preparing Letters of Demand or handling debt collection processes.
- Strong written communication skills and ability to draft clear, concise legal documents.
- Comfortable working on a remote, ad-hoc basis and able to respond within reasonable time frames.
- Professional, approachable, and able to explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
