A top tier Charter School System in New York City is looking to expand their legal department. This schooling system prioritizes rigorous academics for Pre‑K‑12 students in Upper Manhattan, The Bronx, and Queens, and they are continuing to expand. This organization services underprivileged kids by giving them a world‑class education and loving and caring support—both in and out of the classroom.

This non‑profit is one of the best of its kind.

Joining this team would give you the opportunity to work in a fast‑paced environment that has a start‑up feel. Working directly with the legal function and other teams within the schooling system will provide you with an enriching career experience while being able to wear many different hats as an in‑house attorney.

The ideal candidate would spend two days a week in office in NYC; the team is open to remote work for candidates outside NYC.

• Researching and advising on legal questions
• Drafting and developing policies and procedures
• Managing special projects
• Keeping up to date on educational laws and regulations
• Leading strategic, proactive lawsuits to create more opportunities for students
• Working with matters including:
• Litigation
• IP
• Tax
• Employment
• Contracts

• JD from an accredited law school
• 4+ years of legal experience
• Big Law experience preferred
• Ability to work in different areas and learn new subject matters quickly
• Strong passion for educational equality
• Appreciation and dedication to nonprofit mission
