Job Description

Join Allstate’s legal frontline and champion the defense for both the insured and the Company. As a Trial Attorney, you’ll handle auto liability and premises liability matters with frequent trials, hearings, and mediations. Beyond the courtroom, you’ll provide counsel to business partners and collaborate across legal teams. Stay ahead of emerging laws and regulations to help ensure our strategies remain sharp.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to resolution, including case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre‑trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post‑trial motions.
  • Gather and organize documents, evidence, and research for hearings, trials, mediations, and depositions.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare concise summaries and reports.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
  • Interview clients Dá witnesses; draft summaries and maintain clear, accurate communication records.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and related legal proceedings; may represent the company or clients in routine matters.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations and communicate potential impacts to the legal team.
  • Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop litigation skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work.
Education
  • Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar

Minimum Requirements
  • Early‑career experience in trial advocacy.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills with the ability to draft clear, well‑structured legal documents.
