Claims Legal Specialist - Conditional Demands

This position will be located at Sentry's Stevens Point, WI - Division Street office, Davenport, IA office, Scottsdale, AZ office, Goldsboro, NC office, or Madison, WI office.
What You’ll Do:- Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical advice, direction, and guidance to other claims associates on the handling of conditional settlement demands received by the enterprise.
- Work with front‑line claims file handlers as a trusted advisor on a day‑to‑day basis regarding conditional demands received.
- Develop and guide claim managers and claim representatives on how to properly handle demands that expose Sentry and its insured/defendant to extra contractual liability and excess verdict risk.
- Design and implement programs and practices relating to conditional demands for use nationwide, collaborating with claims management and legal to set best practices for handling these demands across multiple states.
- Coordinate with various claims units to provide consistent, quality claims handling of complex conditional demands.
- Participate in strategy planning and recommend courses of action to achieve the best outcomes for insured and enterprise.
- Stay abreast of changes in law impacting operations related to conditional demands across all fifty states.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required;
Juris Doctor preferred. - Minimum 8 years of related work experience.
- Experience handling conditional demands, preferably including bodily injury claims, on behalf of an insurer in at least one of the following states: CA, FL, TX, GA, or SC. This is not a practicing attorney position, and no license to practice law is required.
- Expertise with conditional demands across multiple states, including legal requirements, claims‑handling best practices, and associated risks.
- Technical expertise in claims processes, procedures, and laws, and a thorough understanding of conditional demand requirements across multiple states.
- Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to self‑manage in a role that demands a high degree of technical skill.
- Hybrid work model: work from home Monday and Friday if you choose;
