Position Title: Assistant Attorney General (Child Advocacy & Protection Division)
Job DescriptionThe Oregon Department of Justice seeks a self‑motivated, collaborative attorney to serve in the Child Advocacy & Protection Division (CAPD). The role covers an Eastern Oregon assignment, primarily hybrid remote work with frequent travel to court and client offices. Attorneys provide comprehensive legal advice and litigation services for the Oregon Department of Human Services Child Welfare Program (DHS) in all phases of juvenile dependency and termination rights cases, work closely with ODHS to improve child safety outcomes, and balance court appearances from short hearings to multi‑day trials.
The position demands strong organizational skills, attentionские detail, and the ability to multiqueen facto a fast‑paced work environment.
This litigation‑focused role requires significant court time, strong oral advocacy, and the capacity to manage a high‑volume workload while collaborating with agency‑client representatives and internal support staff teams.

Required Experience- Active membership in good standing with the Oregon State Bar or reciprocity actively pending.
- Minimum one year practical legal experience.
- Demonstrated oral advocacy proficiency.
- Practical knowledge of the Oregon Rules of Evidence or successful completion of a law school evidence course.
- Willingness and availability to travel, including overnight stays, and possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to independently transport substantial hearing or trial materials to court and client offices.
- Familiarity and experience with Oregon juvenile dependency law.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing a high‑volume workload.
- Experience working in a team‑supported environment.

Additional InformationThe OAJA-represented position will be filled at either the Assistant Attorney General or Senior Assistant Attorney General level; salary depends on experience and other factors.
