Expected Compensation:
Salary in accordance with Oklahoma Statute 20-106.9.
Signing Bonus:
Eligible for a $5,000 signing bonus and an annual equipment allowance.
Location:
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (remote work eligible, required to be in office at least 25% of the time).
Positions in this job family record and transcribe court proceedings.
Typical Functions- Perform administrative duties including exhibit and docket handling.
- Learn and use OCC-specific technology such as Laserfiche (LF) and Electronic Case Filing (ECF).
- Use Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Transcribe court proceedings verbatim before the OCC, including hearings before administrative law judges, referees of the OCC, and OCC Commissioners.
- Transcribe recordings when requested and maintain files of transcripts and exhibits.
- Maintain complete records of hearing dockets before all courts of the OCC.
- Maintain detailed and organized files.
- Other duties as assigned.
Statutory Requirement:
Must be certified/licensed by the State Board of Examiners of Official Shorthand Reporters. If no certified reporters are available, temporary certification may be issued by the Chief Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court for up to 12 months.
Knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar, legal vocabulary, courtroom procedures, and procedures for obtaining verbatim recordings. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

The OCC uses its own Electronic Case Filing system (ECF). The court reporter must learn and use OCC‑specific technology and may receive training. The position requires high attention to detail, long periods of sitting, repetitive typing, independent work, and strong organizational skills. Core work hours are Monday‑Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with possible flexibility based on agency needs.
- 15 days accrued annually during the first 1–5 years of service.
- 18 days accrued annually for 5–10 years of service.
- 20 days accrued annually for 10–20 years of service.
- 25 days accrued annually for over 20 years of service.
- Sick leave: 15 days accrued per year.
