Location: Bromley Town

Locum Childcare Solicitor - Hybrid Opportunity 🚨
I'm currently working with a Local Authority in South East London seeking an experienced Locum Childcare Solicitor to support their Legal Services Team.

📅 Initial 3-Month Contract (strong likelihood of extension)
💷 £50-£60 per hour
🏠 Hybrid Working (with in-person advocacy requirements)

This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly and collaborative legal team, handling a varied childcare caseload within a well-established Local Authority legal department.

Key Responsibilities:

✅ Managing a caseload of Childcare matters with minimal supervision
✅ Undertaking Court Advocacy on average Bi-Weekly
✅ Handling proceedings under the Children Act 1989, including Care Orders, Supervision Orders and Emergency Protection Orders
✅ Preparing legal documentation and applications for court proceedings
✅ Attending and advising at legal planning meetings, PLO meetings and case conferences
✅ Providing legal advice and support to social workers, team managers and senior officers
✅ Instructing and liaising with Counsel where required
✅ Keeping up to date with legislative and case law developments affecting Children's Services

Essential Requirements:

🔹 Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX Lawyer
🔹 Strong working knowledge of the Children Act 1989
🔹 Experience handling care proceedings from inception to conclusion
🔹 Advocacy experience and confidence attending Court hearings
🔹 Ability to manage a caseload independently with minimal supervision
