Legal Counsel - Energy ; Remote

About the Role

Our client is looking for an accomplished Legal Counsel with expertise in the energy sector to join their organization on a full-time, fully remote basis. This critical role will provide specialized legal support for the company's operations and projects, particularly those related to the Mossel Bay, Western Cape region. You will advise on a range of legal issues specific to energy law, project development, and regulatory compliance, contributing to the company's strategic growth and operational success from your remote workspace.

• Provide legal advice on energy-related contracts, including power purchase agreements, EPC contracts, and joint venture agreements.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable energy regulations, environmental laws, and permits.
• Assist in the negotiation and drafting of agreements for new energy projects and infrastructure development.
• Conduct legal due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and investments within the energy sector.
• Manage disputes and litigation related to energy projects and operations.
• Stay abreast of legislative and regulatory changes affecting the energy industry.

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience.
• Demonstrated experience and deep understanding of energy law, project finance, and regulatory frameworks in South Africa.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a demanding workload in a remote environment.
