Children Law Accredited Solicitor

TV Edwards LLP, a leading law firm with a nationally recognised family department, is seeking a talented Children Law Accredited solicitor with at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) to join our team in Whitechapel, London.

We are a team of specialist children lawyers dealing with complex, high-profile public and private children law cases. Ranked Band 1 in Chambers & Partners and recommended in the Legal 500, our department conducts some of the most cutting edge and rewarding work in this area of law.

We are a firmly established and experienced department with a friendly and supportive working environment. We offer flexible and hybrid working practices and have a strong commitment to training our staff. We deliver regular internal training courses for staff of all levels of experience. We also hold regular team and department meetings and have an open-door policy. Additionally, we have excellent software that integrates time recording and billing with case management.

We are paperless, making remote working easy and effective.

• Ability to undertake a mix of public & private children and domestic abuse work both legal aid and privately funded
• Undertaking advocacy on your cases and for colleagues.
• Keeping up to date with general legal developments, particularly relating to your specialist field.
• Ensuring that practices and procedures in the firm and departmental manuals are accurately adhered to in order to maintain professional, Legal Aid Agency, Lexcel and firm standards.
• The current team members are enthusiastic about developing the business, and marketing will also form part of your role, including: attending events, writing articles and being proactive on social media.

• Accredited through the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation scheme.
• Advocacy experience, preferably at all levels of court.
• Ability to work within the Legal Aid Agency’s CCMS system and contract requirements.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, work efficiently under pressure, and meet targets.
• Problem solving ability and legal research skills.
• Self-motivation and ability to work well with and motivate and support others, including more junior team members.
• Ability to work within departmental management processes and respond effectively to management requests.
• Adaptability and an enthusiasm to learn and develop skills.
• Good marketing, networking and business development skills.
