British Transport Police have an opportunity for a Force Crime & Incident Registrar to join the Governance, Risk and Compliance Department. As the Force Crime & Incident Registrar, you will act as BTP's Head of Profession for crime and incident recording, ensuring that national crime recording standards, Home Office Counting Rules and Scottish Crime Recording Standards are applied consistently across the Force.

You will provide strategic advice to senior leaders, act as the final arbiter on complex crime recording decisions and lead the development, implementation and assurance of crime and incident recording standards, policies and audit programmes across BTP.

• Providing independent strategic direction and expert advice to senior leaders on crime and incident recording standards, legislation and best practice.
• Acting as BTP's final decision maker for complex crime recording matters, including classification, outcomes, cancellations and cross-jurisdictional recording issues.
• Leading the development, implementation, monitoring and auditing of crime recording policies, procedures and quality assurance programmes across the Force.
• Managing and developing a geographically dispersed team of crime auditors whilst representing BTP nationally with the Home Office, Scottish Government and policing partners on crime recording matters.

• Significant experience of crime and incident recording within a UK police service, including experience in a Crime Auditor, Deputy Crime Registrar, Crime Registrar or equivalent specialist role.
• Comprehensive knowledge of crime recording policies, National Crime Recording Standards, Scottish Crime Recording Standards, incident recording requirements and Home Office Counting Rules.
• Excellent analytical, research and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, influence senior stakeholders and make sound professional judgements.
• Experience of leading teams and managing competing priorities whilst delivering high-quality outcomes in a complex operational environment.

Additional requirement:
The role requires that the successful candidate is already accredited by the College of Policing and on the register maintained by the Home Office. This is a mandatory requirement for appointment to the position.
