Job DescriptionAs a Canadian Business Immigration Law Clerk, you will work closely with immigration lawyers and other members of our Canadian Immigration team to support corporate clients and their employees throughout the Canadian immigration process.
You will manage a varied caseload, prepare immigration applications and supporting documentation, communicate with clients and foreign nationals, and help ensure matters are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable legislation and internal service standards.
This role is well suited to someone who combines strong Canadian business immigration knowledge with excellent organization, sound judgment, and a genuine commitment to client service.
What You’ll Create and Do- Prepare and coordinate a range of Canadian temporary and permanent residence applications for corporate clients and their employees.
- Support applications and matters involving work permits, Labour Market Impact Assessments, employer compliance, business visitors, intra-company transferees, international mobility programs, permanent residence, and other Canadian immigration pathways.
- Review client and applicant documentation, identify missing or inconsistent information, and follow up to obtain the materials required for filing.
- Draft application forms, supporting letters, submission materials, and other immigration-related documentation for lawyer review.
- Conduct immigration research and help assess potential options based on an individual’s circumstances and the client’s business needs.
- Maintain ownership of assigned matters, including tracking deadlines, monitoring case progress, and ensuring files remain accurate and current.
- Communicate regularly with corporate contacts, foreign nationals, and internal stakeholders regarding case requirements, timelines, risks, and next steps.
- Provide clear, timely, and professional responses to client and applicant inquiries.
- Use immigration case-management systems and other technology platforms to maintain case records, documentation, status information, and reporting data.
- Support client reporting, program-management activities, and special projects as required.
- Monitor changes in Canadian immigration legislation, policies, procedures, and government processing practices.
- Collaborate with lawyers, law clerks, consultants, and global colleagues to provide a consistent and connected client experience.
- Contribute to process improvements and identify opportunities to use technology and automation to improve quality, efficiency, and the client experience.
- Support the development of junior team members by sharing knowledge, reviewing work, and providing guidance, where appropriate.
- Uphold Vialto Partners’ standards for quality, confidentiality, professional conduct, and client service.
- Previous experience supporting Canadian immigration matters, preferably within a corporate immigration law firm, professional-services organization, or high-volume immigration environment.
