About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Corporate Legal Counsel to join their team, operating remotely across South Africa . This role is integral to providing comprehensive legal support to the company's business operations, strategic initiatives, and corporate governance. You will be responsible for advising on a broad range of legal matters, including contracts, compliance, corporate law, and risk management. As a fully remote position, you will leverage digital collaboration tools to effectively engage with internal departments and external advisors, ensuring legal excellence and mitigating risk from anywhere within the country.
Key Responsibilities- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts and agreements.
- Advise on corporate law matters, including company formation, compliance, and governance.
- Support M&A activities, due diligence, and corporate restructurings.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, providing proactive legal guidance.
- Manage legal risks and assist in the development and implementation of internal policies.
- Collaborate with business units to provide practical legal solutions supporting business objectives.
- Admitted attorney with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in a corporate in-house or top-tier law firm setting.
- Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance in South Africa .
- Experience in advising on commercial transactions and general corporate matters.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a remote work environment.
- Proven ability to provide sound, business-oriented legal advice.
