In-House Legal Counsel

About the Role

Our client, operating in Upington , is seeking a versatile In-House Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support across its diverse business operations. This role involves advising on a wide array of legal matters, including commercial contracts, employment law, and regulatory compliance. You will be instrumental in safeguarding the company's legal interests, managing risks, and ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and best practices.

The position is offered under a hybrid work model, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work, providing flexibility and promoting work-life balance.

• Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements and service contracts.
• Provide legal guidance on employment law issues, including disputes and policy development.
• Ensure compliance with South African legislation, including POPIA and consumer protection laws.
• Assist in the management of litigation and coordinate with external legal counsel.
• Conduct legal research and provide timely advice on emerging legal issues.
• Support corporate governance activities and maintain legal records.

• Admitted Attorney with at least 4 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in an in-house or commercial law firm setting.
• Strong experience in commercial law and contract drafting/negotiation.
• Familiarity with South African labour law and data protection regulations (POPIA).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
