About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented In-House Legal Counsel with a focus on Regulatory Affairs to join their expanding legal team, operating fully remotely from Cape Town. This critical role involves navigating the complex regulatory landscape, ensuring the company's operations and products meet all necessary legal standards and compliance requirements. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing regulatory strategies, advising stakeholders across the organization, and mitigating legal risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and interpret evolving national and international regulations relevant to the company's industry.
  • Develop and implement robust compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advise business units on regulatory implications of new products, services, and market strategies.
  • Manage regulatory filings, submissions, and interactions with governmental agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct internal audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance gaps and propose corrective actions.
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries and investigations, and assist in dispute resolution processes.
Requirements
  • Admitted Attorney of the High Court with a minimum of 5 years' experience, with a strong emphasis on regulatory law and compliance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in South African regulatory frameworks and compliance management.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal opinions, policy documents, and compliance reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with remote teams and external stakeholders.
