Senior Data Privacy Lawyer

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking organisation, is looking for an experienced Senior Data Privacy Lawyer to lead its data protection initiatives from a remote, home-based position. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with global and local data privacy regulations, developing policies, and advising on data-related legal risks. You will be at the forefront of privacy law, working autonomously to shape the company's data governance framework.

This is a fully remote opportunity for a dedicated legal professional to make a significant impact on data privacy strategy across the organization, regardless of geographic location.

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data privacy policies and procedures.
• Advise on compliance with POPIA, GDPR, and other relevant data protection laws.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on data processing agreements.
• Manage data breach incidents and lead response efforts.
• Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on data privacy best practices.

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 6 years of experience, with a significant focus on data privacy and protection law .
• In-depth knowledge of POPIA, GDPR, and international privacy regimes.
• Experience in developing and implementing privacy compliance programs.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable working remotely.
