In-House Counsel - Generalist

Our client is seeking a versatile and experienced In-House Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support across their organization in a fully remote capacity. This role requires a broad understanding of various legal domains, including corporate law, commercial contracts, employment law, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work autonomously, advising on a wide range of legal matters and proactively managing legal risks.

• Provide legal advice on a variety of corporate and commercial matters, including contract negotiation and drafting.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, developing and implementing policies as needed.
• Manage and resolve legal disputes, and advise on litigation strategy.
• Support human resources with employment law matters, including drafting policies and advising on employee relations.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on various legal issues affecting the business.
• Oversee and manage external legal counsel when required.

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree, with admission to practice in South Africa.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing law, with significant experience in-house or advising corporations.
• Broad expertise across multiple legal disciplines, including corporate, commercial, and employment law.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage a diverse legal workload effectively.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in using remote work tools and technologies for effective collaboration.
