Remote Legal Counsel - Technology & IP

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Remote Legal Counsel with expertise in Technology and Intellectual Property (IP) law. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to a forward-thinking organization from anywhere. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support on technology-related contracts, software licensing, data privacy, and IP protection strategies. The role involves working closely with product development, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks associated with innovation and digital operations.

Draft, review, and negotiate technology-related agreements, including SaaS, licensing, development, and master service agreements. Advise on intellectual property matters, including patent, trademark, and copyright protection and enforcement. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR) and advise on data protection strategies. Support product development teams on legal and regulatory considerations for new technologies and features. Manage IP portfolio and assist with IP-related disputes and litigation.

Provide legal guidance on e-commerce, digital marketing, and online content matters.

Admitted Attorney of the High Court with 4-6 years of experience in technology and IP law. Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex technology contracts and IP-related agreements. Strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to provide pragmatic legal solutions in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively in a remote setting.
