Remote Employment Lawyer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and expert Remote Employment Lawyer to join their fully remote legal team, supporting operations across South Africa. This role is integral to advising on all aspects of employment law, ensuring compliance with the BCEA, LRA, EEA, and other relevant legislation. You will provide critical legal counsel to HR and management teams, handle complex employee relations matters, and develop strategies to minimize employment-related risks.

The ideal candidate is adept at navigating the nuances of South African labor law, possesses excellent communication skills, and thrives in a flexible, remote-first work environment, contributing significantly to fair and legally sound HR practices nationwide.

• Provide expert legal advice on all employment law matters, including disciplinary actions, grievances, retrenchments, and performance management.
• Draft, review, and update employment contracts, policies, and procedures in compliance with current legislation.
• Represent the company in CCMA and other labor dispute resolution forums.
• Conduct legal training for HR personnel and managers on employment law best practices.
• Advise on and manage complex workplace investigations and employee relations issues.
• Stay current with changes in employment legislation and labor court jurisprudence.

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in South African employment law .
• In-depth knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and Employment Equity Act.
• Proven experience in representing employers in the CCMA and Labour Court.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload effectively in a remote setting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
