In-House Counsel - Litigation

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned In-House Counsel specializing in Litigation to join their dynamic legal team based in Rustenburg . This senior position requires a proactive and strategic thinker who can manage a diverse portfolio of legal disputes, from inception to resolution. You will be responsible for developing litigation strategies, overseeing external counsel, and advising business units on risk management and dispute avoidance.

• Develop and implement effective litigation strategies for all pending and potential legal actions.
• Manage all aspects of pre-trial discovery, including document review, depositions, and evidence gathering.
• Supervise and direct the work of external litigation counsel, ensuring cost-effectiveness and strategic alignment.
• Advise business leaders on legal risks associated with potential litigation and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations where appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations affecting the company's operations.

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 7 years of dedicated experience in commercial litigation .
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex litigation matters in various South African courts.
• Strong understanding of procedural law, evidence, and corporate dispute resolution.
• Experience in managing outside counsel and controlling litigation budgets.
• Excellent analytical, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and make sound legal judgments under pressure.
