About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned In-House Counsel with a specialization in contract law to join their progressive legal team, operating remotely. This role is essential for managing the company's contractual obligations, advising on all aspects of contract negotiation and drafting, and ensuring legal compliance across various business functions. You will play a critical role in mitigating contractual risks and supporting strategic business initiatives through expert legal guidance.
This position is ideal for a proactive legal professional who thrives in a remote setting, possesses exceptional contract drafting skills, and is adept at managing diverse legal challenges with precision and efficiency.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide spectrum of commercial contracts, including sales, service, licensing, and partnership agreements.
- Provide expert legal advice on contract interpretation, breach of contract issues, and dispute resolution strategies.
- Develop and maintain standard contract templates and playbooks to streamline contracting processes.
- Collaborate with business units to understand their needs and ensure contracts align with company policies and objectives.
- Conduct legal research on contract-related matters and advise on relevant legal developments.
- Assist in developing and delivering training on contract best practices to non-legal staff.
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with at least 6 years of relevant experience, focused on contract law.
- Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Strong understanding of South African contract law principles and commercial practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
