Legal Counsel - Commercial Litigation

Our client seeks a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel with a strong background in Commercial Litigation to join their team in Paarl . This role demands a proactive approach to managing a diverse caseload of complex disputes, from initial assessment through to resolution. You will represent the company's interests in court proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations, while also advising on risk mitigation strategies to prevent future litigation.

• Manage and conduct commercial litigation matters on behalf of the company, including drafting pleadings, discovery, and appearances.
• Advise business units on legal risks associated with commercial activities and provide strategies for dispute avoidance.
• Represent the company in arbitrations, mediations, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
• Collaborate with external counsel when necessary, providing clear instructions and managing costs effectively.
• Conduct legal research and prepare case assessments, opinions, and strategies.
• Ensure compliance with court rules and procedures throughout all litigation processes.

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 5 years of experience focused on commercial litigation .
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex litigation matters.
• Strong understanding of civil procedure, evidence law, and commercial dispute resolution mechanisms.
• Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and drafting skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage a demanding caseload, and meet strict deadlines.
