AboutThe Role
Our client, a nationally recognized Am Law 100 defense firm, is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join its Spokane-area practice. This position offers 100% remote flexibility, with the option to work in a hybrid/in-office environment as desired.
The firm has needs across a broad range of civil-defense practices, including Employment, Complex Commercial Litigation, Construction, Healthcare, Professional Liability, Environmental/Toxic Tort, Product Liability, and General Liability.
This opportunity is well suited for an attorney with 3+ years of litigation experience who can take meaningful ownership of matters while collaborating with attorneys across a national platform.
Key Responsibilities- Manage civil litigation matters from initial evaluation through resolution
- Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and other substantive legal briefs
- Handle written discovery, document production, and case investigation
- Take and defend depositions
- Participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations
- Develop litigation strategy in coordination with partners and clients
- Prepare witnesses, experts, and matters for trial
- Appear in court as appropriate
- Communicate directly with clients regarding case developments, strategy, and risk
- Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's national litigation practices
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active Washington Bar license in good standing
- 3+ years of civil litigation experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is particularly relevant:
Employment, Complex Commercial Litigation, Construction, Healthcare, Professional Liability, Environmental/Toxic Tort, Product Liability, or General Liability - Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Hands-on experience with discovery and substantive motion practice
- Deposition and courtroom experience preferred
- Ability to manage matters with limited supervision while collaborating effectively with a broader litigation team
