Location: West Midlands

Locum Principle Prosecutions Lawyer – Midlands – 3-6 months + – Hybrid (Predominantly Remote) – Up to £65 per hour Umbrella

Venn group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Principle Prosecutions Lawyer to join a reputable local authority in the Midlands.

This is a Locum position, on a rolling contract basis with an initial term of 3-6 months. The role will be full time, predominantly remote working, with once-a-week in office attendance. Initial IT collection will also be in person.

Ideal Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX with Litigation and Advocacy rights
  • Experience in handling Prosecutions matters
  • Can demonstrate prior experience working on behalf of Local Authorities
Duties and responsibilities for this post may include
  • Managing a varied Prosecutions caseload on behalf of the Local Authority
  • Providing legal advice across a range of regulatory and enforcement matters, including Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Licensing, Planning and Waste Enforcement
  • Managing and supporting a team of lawyers, legal officers and paralegals
  • Full case preparation and case management for Court proceedings
  • Liaising with Officers and internal clients across multiple Local Authority departments
  • Preparing briefs and instructions for Counsel and liaising as required
  • Attending Court on behalf of the Local Authority when necessary
