In-House Counsel - Technology

This critical role will provide strategic legal guidance on a wide array of technology-related matters, including intellectual property, data privacy, software licensing, and cloud computing agreements. You will work closely with engineering, product development, and business teams to navigate the complexities of the digital world, ensuring legal compliance and mitigating risks.

• Advise on intellectual property matters, including patent, trademark, and copyright protection.
• Draft, review, and negotiate technology-focused contracts, such as SaaS agreements, software licenses, and development contracts.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA) and advise on data security practices.
• Support product development teams by providing legal analysis on new features and technologies.
• Manage and resolve legal disputes related to technology and intellectual property.
• Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures related to technology and data usage.

• Admitted Attorney with 5+ years of experience, with a significant portion focused on technology law, IP, or data privacy.
• Strong understanding of software licensing, SaaS agreements, and cloud computing legal issues.
• Knowledge of South African and international data protection laws.
• Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment is highly advantageous.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
