Locum Childcare Lawyer – Full Time – Initial 3 Months+ – Up to £55 per hour Umbrella
Venn Group's specialist Public Sector Legal team are currently recruiting for an experienced Locum Childcare Lawyer to join a Local Authority on an interim basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced childcare lawyer to undertake a varied public law caseload and provide high-quality legal advice and representation within an established legal team.
Role Details:
Position: Locum Childcare Lawyer
Working Arrangement: Full Time, 36 hours per week. Predominantly remote working with office attendance ideally once per week, although flexibility may be considered
Duration: Initial 3 months+, with potential for extension
Rate: Up to £55 per hour Umbrella
Duties may include:
- Providing legal advice and representation on childcare matters
- Managing public law care proceedings
- Advising on adoption, child protection and fostering matters
- Undertaking legal research in relation to childcare law
- Preparing briefs and instructions to Counsel
- Attending legal planning meetings where required
- Working closely with officers and other professionals involved in safeguarding and childcare matters
- Managing a varied caseload and progressing matters efficiently within required timescales
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with strong childcare law experience
- Experience handling public law care proceedings
- Knowledge of adoption, child protection and fostering matters
- Previous Local Government or wider Public Sector experience is highly desirable
- Strong drafting, advocacy and case management skills
- Ability to provide clear and practical legal advice
- Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
