Senior Legal Counsel - Remote First

The role requires a strong understanding of South African corporate law and international legal frameworks, enabling you to provide strategic advice on a variety of legal issues.

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including service agreements, partnership agreements, and licensing agreements.
• Provide expert legal advice on corporate law, regulatory compliance, and governance matters.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex legal issues.
• Manage and resolve legal disputes and litigation, coordinating with external counsel as necessary.
• Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
• Advise on intellectual property matters, data privacy, and employment law.
• Assist with corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
• Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, offering practical and strategic legal solutions.

• Admitted as an Attorney or Advocate in South Africa, with a current Fidelity Fund Certificate.
• Minimum of 7 years of post‑qualification experience in corporate law, gained in a reputable law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
• In‑depth knowledge of South African corporate legislation and common law principles.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
• Proficiency in legal research databases and standard office software.
• Experience with international law or cross‑border transactions is a strong asset.
