Litigation Associate, Third Party Coverage

Additional insured disputes are a niche inside a niche. So are allocation fights between carriers, the fine print of other insurance clauses and the question of whether a contractual liability exclusion actually bites. If those are the conversations you enjoy, you're exactly who I'm looking for.

I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, and I'm hiring a third party insurance coverage associate for a client firm. The role is fully remote for an attorney based in Florida.

Please read this first: the firm needs someone who already has third party coverage experience. This isn't a role for a general litigator looking for a way into coverage, and it isn't first party property work.

• Analyzing third party liability policies and advising carriers on defense and indemnity obligations
• Drafting coverage position letters, reservation of rights letters and coverage opinions
• Handling declaratory judgment actions in state and federal court, including dispositive motions
• Tender disputes, additional insured claims and contribution or allocation between insurers
• Supporting carriers when defense and coverage questions overlap on a live claim

• Third party insurance coverage experience, ideally on the carrier side
• 2+ years in practice
• Precise writing, and confidence explaining a coverage position to a claims professional who needs a clear answer

You'll work from home anywhere in Florida. Coverage work suits it well: the job is reading, analysis, writing and calls, and the best coverage lawyers tend to do their sharpest thinking without interruptions.

More experienced coverage attorneys will lead the bigger disputes, argue the motions, build their own carrier relationships and help train others. The salary range is wide on purpose, so a seasoned coverage lawyer or counsel is paid in line with what they bring.

• $125,000 to $200,000 based on experience
• A realistic path toward partnership
