Seismic is the global leader in AI-powered go-to-market preparation and performance software, used by more than 2,500 of the world's leading enterprises, including many in financial services and other regulated industries. We are seeking a Product Counsel to join the legal team of a mature, but still fast-growing SaaS business. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Go-to-Market teams throughout the product lifecycle, providing practical legal guidance on product development, AI, data privacy, emerging technologies, and global regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted, business-embedded legal partner, helping to identify and manage legal risk while enabling innovation and supporting the development and launch of market-leading SaaS products.

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as a trusted business partner and work closely with product and engineering teams throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept development to go-to-market strategy.
  • Proactively identify and assess potential legal and global regulatory risks associated with our products and services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address and mitigate legal and compliance risks in our products.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives across the product development lifecycle.
  • Stay at the forefront of legal developments in privacy, AI, financial services, and global regulations that impact our products and customers, providing thought leadership and strategic guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements related to product development and use, including partnership agreements, supply chain agreements, and customer-facing terms.
  • Collaborate with external counsel as needed to manage complex matters with a global scope.
  • Collaborate with other members of the legal team to achieve our company’s goals including serving as support in commercial transactions and strategic partnerships.
  • Contribute to other legal projects as required by the business.
  • Provide legal training to legal team members and business stakeholders.

What You Bring:

  • JD, with admission to at least one bar.
  • A minimum of 3 years of substantive legal experience, preferably within the in-house legal department of a SaaS company.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in AI and data privacy law and regulations, with a strong understanding of emerging technologies.
  • Experience working with, and advising on, AI-powered products and services.
  • Experience and practical insight into customer-driven development dynamics.
  • Familiarity with open source and experience counseling companies on open-source policy and remediation.
  • Experience navigating legal and regulatory complexities in global markets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and navigate complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills and a collaborative and proactive approach, with a passion for innovation and a desire to be a strategic partner.
  • An understanding of the SaaS industry, its unique legal challenges, and the global regulatory landscape.
  • The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to tackle new challenges.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience working with financial services customers.
  • A coding background or a strong understanding of technical concepts.
  • Experience working at a startup or fast-paced growth company.
