Logistics Team Supervisor

Our client is a nationwide same‑day and time‑critical courier business based near Culcheth in Warrington. With 21 years of operation, the company continues to grow through a mix of organic expansion and acquisitions. It is an owner‑managed SME where decisions are made quickly and accountability is a core value.

The Logistics Team Supervisor takes ownership of the live logistics operation, working closely with the Logistics Team Manager and deputising when necessary. This desk‑based, hands‑on role involves supervising a busy office that deals with phone calls, email, bookings, quotes and customer issues, while directing 50–70 drivers on van and HGV deliveries.

• Supervise inbound calls, email inbox, bookings, quotes and customer issues.
• Oversee live orders from initial enquiry to successful delivery.
• Balance customer service, inbound sales and driver management.
• Plan and control capacity across drivers and partners.
• Recruit and onboard the local courier fleet.
• Make fast, confident decisions with incomplete information.
• Handle escalations calmly and professionally.
• Supervise the logistics office team, covering customer‑facing and driver‑facing roles.
• Be accountable for service quality and client satisfaction.

• Thrives in a busy B2B logistics or courier office.
• Has experience working close to customers, on phones and with live orders.
• Has people‑supervision and problem‑solving experience, not just process focus.
• Has operated in an SME or owner‑managed environment.
• Enjoys visibility, pace and accountability.
• Confident in using modern TMS and IT systems (not outdated Excel setups).
• Not primarily a warehouse or fleet management background.

• Proven experience in a B2B fast‑paced logistics, courier or time‑critical environment.
• Experience supervising a logistics or operations office.
• Experience in client and driver management.
• A genuine sense of ownership and accountability.
• Clear, confident communication with customers, colleagues and drivers.
• Experience working in an owner‑managed SME.
• Experience with TMS/disPATCH systems.
• Subcontractor sourcing, onboarding and management.

• Salary around £35,000, dependent on experience, plus benefits.
• 40‑hour working week (08:00–17:30, Monday to Friday).
• £200 on‑call allowance per rota week (approximately £2,000 per year).
