Job Summary
Buyer to join the Purchasing Services team, responsible for procurement of goods, services, and construction in accordance with Saanich policies and best‑value practices.

Responsibilities

Provide procurement services to municipal departments, ensuring best value for money expended.

Offer advice and guidance on purchasing issues and the contracting process.

Apply Saanich policies, Canadian and International Contract Law, Trade Agreement rules and obligations, and best practices.

Adhere to all procurement methods (sourcing, selecting, evaluating) and competitive bidding laws of Canada.

Manage contract formation, logistics, transportation, quality, inventory, and whole‑life costing.

Qualifications

Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.

Certificate or one‑year post‑secondary education in a related field (Business Administration, Finance).

Diploma of Supply Management from Supply Chain Canada.

Minimum three years’ purchasing experience, preferably in a public environment (equivalent combinations may be considered).

Working knowledge of all procurement methods, competitive bidding laws of Canada, contract formation, logistics, transportation, quality management, inventory management, and whole‑life costing.

Working Conditions
Work Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week). Possibility of flex days and a modified work schedule. Occasional work from home depending on assignments.

Compensation and Benefits
Local 2011 position with a wage of $41.41 per hour (2026 rate) and an excellent benefit package.
