Position Location:

At our Brossard Campus, strategically located in the heart of the Solar District and easily accessible by REM.

You will also benefit from two (2) days of remote work per week, providing flexibility to help balance work and personal commitments.

Position Purpose

Reporting to the Packaging and Ingredients Procurement Manager, the Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of packaging materials, ingredients, films, and other inputs required for the production of our salad bowls across our four Canadian facilities and our U.S. facility.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, the Buyer ensures product availability while optimizing quality, costs, and lead times. Using sales forecasts and MRP systems, the incumbent plans and executes purchasing activities required to support operational continuity.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of over 40 employees and collaborate with numerous internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently and proactively manage supply challenges, whether anticipated or urgent.
  • Participate in bidding processes with current and potential suppliers.
  • Manage the full purchase order cycle: creation, issuance, approval, delivery follow-up, documentation control, claims management, and invoice validation.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with cross-functional teams, distributors, and suppliers (more than 50 suppliers representing nearly $70M in annual spend).
  • Identify, recommend, and implement continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with various departments.
  • Establish supplier evaluation processes, performance indicators, and risk management tools.
  • Identify, assess, and recommend new sources of supply in accordance with company procurement policies.
  • Act as a key point of contact between procurement, suppliers, and internal customers to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of issues.
  • Collaborate with various departments on new product development while ensuring project and production timelines are met.
  • Represent the company with suppliers, industry associations, and other sector partners.
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels.
  • Support the immediate supervisor in the completion of various assignments and projects.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Hold a university degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Any combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role, ideally within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Be actively pursuing professional development in supply chain management (SCMP, ISM, APICS), an asset.
  • Be fluent in French and English, both spoken and written, to communicate effectively with our facilities in British Columbia and Florida.
  • Have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (essential).
  • Possess good knowledge of ERP and MRP systems, as well as procurement best practices.
