The role

We are seeking a UK Grocery Demand Planner to join our Sales & Operations Planning team and take primary responsibility for demand planning with our big 6 UK grocery customers within our short-term horizon. Reporting to the S&OP Lead, you will be the key point of contact for managing short-term (12-week rolling) forecasts with major retailers, coordinating depot fills and shelf availability, and ensuring seamless communication when supply constraints arise.

This role is truly cross-functional, requiring excellent coordination of our customers, supply chain, and sales team - driving customer satisfaction through superior forecast accuracy, achieving OTIF targets and maintaining optimal depot stock levels.

Key responsibilities
  • Own and manage the 12-week rolling demand forecasts (all SKUs) across UK Grocery customers
  • Analyse and build upon the internal forecast and challenge the team on assumptions that are inconsistent with trends or promotional plans
  • Build relationships with our customer Supply Contacts to build a collaborative plan
  • Convert customer inputs & internal forecasts into detailed, SKU-level forecasts
  • Weekly engagement/FC reviews and Monthly Longer range planning with each of the customers supply teams
  • Input Grocery forecasts within agreed timelines; analyse month-on-month changes and escalate significant swings
  • Monitor inventory across customer depots; maintain visibility on shelf-stocking patterns to identify risks early
  • Optimise volumes and delivery patterns to align with available supply; look long-term at how to maximize ROI for promotional activity and improve the delivery plan in line with sustainability targets by maximising truckloads.
Supply Management & Communication
  • Lead customer communications during short-supply situations, presenting alternatives (prioritisation, substitutes) and negotiating solutions
  • Prepare impact assessments for Sales/Leadership (revenue implications, customer satisfaction risk)
  • Coordinate adjustments with Marketing and Sales if supply cannot meet demand, and recommend solutions that can allow continued growth
Forecast Accuracy & Analytics
  • Monitor weekly/monthly forecast accuracy by customer and SKU; identify root causes of variance and improvement opportunities
  • Provide monthly reports to S&OP Lead on accuracy, supply-demand balance, and escalations
  • Build dashboards tracking fill rates, shelf availability, and order fulfilment performance
  • Support S&OP Lead with longer-range forecasts and promotional performance analysis for future planning
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Attend monthly S&OP meetings; present forecasts and highlight risks
  • Collaborate with Sales on customer account strategies and key account reviews
  • Provide early visibility to Supply Chain on demand patterns
Who you are
  • Professional experience in customer supply, demand planning, grocery retail, or a related supply chain…
