Job Description & How to Apply Below
A hands-on food procurement role with real ownership of supplier relationships, supply continuity, cost, margin and availability.
Procurement Manager
Northamptonshire
Hybrid: 3 days on-site / 2 days working from home
£45,000-£55,000 + 10% bonus + benefits
Permanent
The Opportunity
We're supporting a well-established fresh food business with the appointment of a Procurement Manager.
This is a supplier-facing, commercially focused role covering sourcing, pricing, availability, forecasting, stock, waste and margin across fast-moving fresh food categories & some packaging.
You'll be working closely with suppliers and internal teams to make sure the business has the right products available at the right quality, cost and service level throughout the year.
It would suit someone who enjoys the pace and detail of food procurement, understands the importance of supplier relationships, and is confident balancing commercial performance with customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Build and develop strong relationships with UK and international suppliers/growers.
Negotiate pricing, terms and supply programmes that support cost, margin and service.
Manage supply risk and availability across fast-moving food categories.
Monitor procurement budgets, forecasts, stock levels, waste and claims.
Work closely with operations, planning and technical teams to support seasonal and supply plans.
Keep close to market activity, competitor movement and new sourcing opportunities.
What We're Looking For
You'll have experience in fresh food procurement, buying or supplier-facing commercial roles.
Fresh produce or short shelf-life food experience would be ideal, but broader food experience is absolutely relevant if you understand supplier negotiation, forecasting, availability, stock, waste and margin pressure.
You'll need to be commercially sharp, confident with suppliers, good with detail and comfortable working across different internal teams.
Why Join?
This is a strong opportunity to join an established food business in a role where procurement has a direct impact on availability, customer service, cost and commercial performance.
You'll have the chance to take ownership of important supplier relationships, influence sourcing decisions and contribute directly to margin and service delivery.
The role also offers a supportive manager, a good level of autonomy, hybrid working and a package of £45,000-£55,000 plus 10% bonus and benefits.
If you're interested in learning more, we'd be happy to have a confidential conversation
