Ocean Import Operations / Account Manager

Location:

Wythenshawe, Manchester

Salary:
Up to £36,000 + potentially more depending on experience

Contract:

Full-time permanent Monday to Friday

Hybrid: 2 days working from home 3 in the office

Holiday: 25 days + Bank Holidays

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting on a confidential basis for an established and highly regarded freight forwarding business based at their head office in Wythenshawe, Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Ocean Import Operator / Account Manager to join a stable and growing forwarding business where there is genuine scope to build a long-term career.

The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 2 years' experience within freight forwarding, with a strong background in import operations, particularly sea freight. Experience across road freight and UK delivery operations would also be highly advantageous.

The Role

As an Ocean Import Operations / Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of import shipments and customers, ensuring freight is handled efficiently, accurately and to the highest possible service standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing end-to-end ocean import shipments from booking through to final delivery.
  • Coordinating sea freight movements with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers and customers.
  • Managing import documentation and ensuring shipments are processed efficiently.
  • Arranging and coordinating customs clearance and final delivery.
  • Monitoring shipment progress and proactively dealing with delays or operational issues.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for customers throughout the shipment lifecycle.
  • Building and maintaining strong customer and supplier relationships
  • Strong experience handling ocean/sea freight imports.
  • Experience coordinating shipments from origin through to final delivery.
  • Experience dealing with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers and customers.
