About the Role
Our client seeks a proactive and experienced Logistics and Operations Manager to spearhead their supply chain and operational efficiency initiatives in Durban . This role is critical for ensuring the timely and cost-effective movement of goods, managing warehouse operations, and optimizing overall logistics strategies. You will play a key part in enhancing the company's operational capabilities and supporting its growth objectives within the key port city of Durban.
The successful candidate will bring a strategic mindset to streamline complex logistical challenges and foster strong team performance in a vital sector of the economy.
- Oversee all aspects of logistics, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution.
- Develop and implement efficient logistics and supply chain strategies to meet company objectives and client needs.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, carriers, and suppliers to ensure optimal service and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics and warehouse operations, driving continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, security, and regulatory requirements within the logistics function.
- Lead and develop the logistics and warehouse teams, promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in logistics and operations management , preferably within a high-volume environment.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory control, and transportation management systems.
- Proven ability to negotiate effectively with carriers and vendors to achieve cost savings and service improvements.
- Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools for optimizing logistics performance.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is essential.
