About the Role
Our client seeks an experienced Buyer and Category Manager to oversee strategic sourcing and procurement for key product categories in Cape Town . This hybrid role balances remote work with essential in-office collaboration, allowing you to contribute to impactful purchasing decisions. You will be responsible for developing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost-efficiency initiatives to support the company's growth objectives.
Your expertise in market analysis and negotiation will be vital in securing competitive terms and ensuring a robust supply chain for the business.
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business goals and market trends.
- Conduct thorough supplier sourcing, evaluation, and selection processes for assigned categories.
- Negotiate pricing, service level agreements, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and mitigate risks.
- Monitor market dynamics, commodity prices, and supplier performance to identify opportunities and challenges.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure procurement meets operational requirements.
- Manage inventory levels and demand forecasting for allocated product lines.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, buying, or category management.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating complex contracts and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and financial information.
- Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
