We are seeking an experienced Heavy-Haul Carrier Development & Capacity Specialist to help build and expand our network of qualified transportation partners supporting oversized, overweight, and mission-critical project freight, including data-center and infrastructure projects.
This is a carrier development and relationship-building position focused on identifying, recruiting, qualifying, and developing long-term relationships with specialized heavy-haul carriers.
This is not a driving, dispatch, or primarily administrative role. The ideal candidate will be comfortable making outbound calls, building a strong carrier network, negotiating rates, and developing capacity for complex transportation requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, research, recruit, and develop relationships with specialized heavy-haul carriers, fleet owners, dispatchers, and owner-operators.
- Conduct consistent outbound phone calls, email outreach, and follow-up to develop new carrier relationships.
- Build and maintain a strong network of qualified heavy-haul transportation partners.
- Evaluate carrier capabilities, equipment, experience, safety records, insurance, operating authority, and available capacity.
- Understand and discuss specialized heavy-haul equipment, including:
- RGNs (Removable Goosenecks)
- Lowboys
- Extendable trailers
- Step decks
- Multi-axle configurations
- Other specialized transportation equipment
- Negotiate rates and transportation terms with carriers while supporting project-specific capacity requirements.
- Work closely with Operations and Compliance teams to ensure carriers meet customer and project requirements.
- Maintain accurate carrier information, activity, communications, and recruiting metrics within the CRM.
- Research the market to identify new carriers and available capacity in targeted lanes and regions.
- Develop relationships that create reliable, repeat capacity rather than one-time carrier coverage.
- Help secure transportation capacity for oversized and industrial equipment, including chillers, generators, transformers, and other mission-critical equipment.
- Monitor carrier availability and market conditions to support project planning and execution.
- Meet measurable production goals related to carrier recruitment, outreach, qualified carriers, and capacity development.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in heavy haul, oversize/overweight transportation, specialized carrier sales, project logistics, transportation business development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting, sourcing, or developing relationships with heavy-haul carriers.
- Strong understanding of specialized transportation equipment and heavy-haul requirements.
- Working knowledge of permits, routing, escorts, load requirements, and oversized/overweight transportation.
- Proven outbound sales, business development, communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to communicate confidently and credibly with owner-operators, dispatchers, fleet owners, and transportation companies.
- Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls and proactively developing new relationships.
- Experience using CRM systems, spreadsheets, online research tools, and AI-enabled productivity tools.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Operations and Compliance teams.
- Ability to work toward measurable activity and production goals.
