Remote Freight and Logistics Specialist

Our client, a leading international freight forwarding company, is seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated Remote Freight and Logistics Specialist to manage intricate shipping operations, particularly supporting their network in the Nelspruit, Mpumalanga region. This is a fully remote position, granting you the flexibility to operate from your preferred location while overseeing critical aspects of the freight and logistics pipeline. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of global shipping regulations, import/export procedures, and efficient supply chain management.

You will be responsible for coordinating the movement of goods, managing documentation, liaising with carriers, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of shipments. • Manage end-to-end freight forwarding processes, including booking shipments, coordinating carrier pick-ups, and managing transit schedules.
• Prepare and process all necessary import/export documentation, ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
• Monitor shipment progress from origin to destination, providing timely updates to clients and stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve logistical challenges, such as delays, customs issues, or rerouting requirements.
• Negotiate rates and service agreements with various transportation carriers (sea, air, land).
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all shipments and related documentation.
• Collaborate with overseas agents and partners to ensure smooth international transit.
• Analyze supply chain operations to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
• Provide expert advice to clients on international trade regulations and logistics best practices.
• Ensure all activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and legal requirements.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, international logistics, or supply chain management.
• In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
• Proven ability to manage complex logistics operations remotely.
• Excellent understanding of air, sea, and land transportation modes.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Proficiency in logistics software and CRM systems.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa and have a stable remote work setup.
• Familiarity with the logistics landscape relevant to the Nelspruit and Mpumalanga regions is advantageous.
