Senior Project Manager - Logistics and Supply Chain Optimization

Our client, a major player in the distribution and logistics sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead initiatives focused on optimizing their supply chain operations in the Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape region. This role is pivotal in driving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing the overall performance of our logistics network. You will be responsible for managing projects related to warehouse management systems, transportation networks, inventory control, and the integration of new technologies.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of supply chain principles, a proven ability to manage complex projects, and excellent stakeholder management skills. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work remotely for part of the week, combined with essential on-site collaboration at our Port Elizabeth hub, allowing for hands-on involvement and team synergy.

• Develop and execute strategic project plans for logistics and supply chain improvements.
• Lead cross-functional project teams comprising operations, IT, finance, and external partners.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure successful and cost-effective project delivery.
• Oversee the implementation and integration of new supply chain technologies, such as WMS, TMS, and ERP modules.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and inefficiencies, proposing and implementing solutions for optimization.
• Conduct detailed analysis of supply chain data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, carriers, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations and safety standards within the supply chain.
• Develop and deliver regular project status reports and presentations to senior management.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the supply chain operations team.

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in project management within the logistics or supply chain industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex supply chain optimization projects.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana) and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau).
• Experience working in a hybrid model, balancing remote work with on-site presence in Port Elizabeth .
• APICS certification (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent is a strong asset.
• Understanding of Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
