Senior Construction Project Manager – Industrial Automation (Large-Scale, Multi-Phase Projects)

JOB SUMMARY:

Adaptec Solutions is seeking an accomplished Senior Project Manager with a strong background in construction for industrial applications to lead and oversee large-scale, multi-phase industrial automation projects. This senior-level role is responsible for managing projects that integrate new construction elements with advanced automation systems across diverse industrial environments. From conceptual design through final commissioning, the Senior Project Manager ensures all project phases align with defined scope, budget, and schedule.

As the primary liaison for strategic customers, this role provides leadership across cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, operations, supply chain, and finance, while also mentoring project team members. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in managing construction-centric automation projects and excels at delivering high-value, turnkey solutions in complex industrial settings.

This position plays a key role in refining project execution strategies and driving continuous improvement within the Project Management Office (PMO), contributing directly to the maturity and scalability of the organization’s project delivery capabilities.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead all aspects of large-scale, multi-phase automation projects, from planning through execution and closeout.
  • Act as the senior liaison between customers, executive leadership, and cross-disciplinary teams to align project goals with business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans using tools like MS Project, integrating phased milestones and critical path analysis.
  • Proactively manage and control multi-million-dollar project budgets; ensure timely and accurate invoicing, materials procurement, and cost tracking using ERP systems.
  • Provide clear communication of project status, risks, and forecasts through regular reports and stakeholder meetings.
  • Ensure scope alignment by overseeing technical design compliance, risk mitigation planning, and contract adherence.
  • Drive resolution of high-impact issues, both technical and commercial, through negotiation and decisive leadership.
  • Manage scope changes and develop Project Change Orders (PCOs) in collaboration with engineering and customer stakeholders.
  • Lead FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) preparation and execution to ensure seamless project transitions.
  • Facilitate weekly executive updates, customer meetings, and internal team huddles to track progress and address roadblocks.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field; PMP certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience managing complex, multi-phase industrial construction and capital equipment integration projects with budgets exceeding $5M.
  • 3+ years’ experience with Industrial Automation, Robotics, PLC-controlled systems, preferred
  • Proficient with MS Project, MS Office Suite, and ERP platforms; strong financial acumen and forecasting skills.
  • Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and contributing to PMO development and standardization.
