SummaryThe Environmental Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of environmental programs for Biomat Facilities throughout North America. Biomat sites primarily consist of plasma & blood donation centers but also include laboratories and offices. The position is stationed in Clayton, NC and requires up to 30% travel.
Primary Responsibilities- Considering Grifols' global vision and respecting global environmental standards, processes and systems.
- Manage compliance activities associated with all applicable local, state and federal regulations related to environmental rules.
- Oversee the development, approval and implementation of environmental procedures.
- Establish and lead a regulatory tracking system and compliance systems.
- Develop, implement and monitor site recycling programs.
- Develop, implement and monitor site waste reduction efforts.
- Work with energy reduction teams to promote efficient use of resources.
- Develop the environmental implementation and training programs across diverse workplace settings operating at multiple sites in NA.
- Conduct incident investigations, including root cause analysis and recommendations.
- Visit sites to gain process knowledge, conduct assessments, introduce new programs and provide training.
- Oversee the development and implementation of ISO 14001 requirements.
- Program development and progress reporting.
- Identify, develop and justify environmental projects, including concept development, feasibility study, scope of work, ROI calculation, budget development, timeline development and funding request.
- Driven individual with self‑accountability, capable of accomplishing goals with minimal management oversight.
- Experienced self‑starter with the knowledge and capability to lead and drive change.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to develop and document processes, and author guidance and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to review engineering drawings, process schematics, and design plans to identify environmental risks.
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Occupational Health, or a closely related discipline is required.
- Equivalency:
In lieu of 7 years of experience, a candidate must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in a closely related scientific or technical discipline and 3 years of related experience. - Minimum 7 years of management experience in an industrial facility setting focused on implementing and sustaining ISO 14001 certification as well as other environmental programs.
- Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example:
If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
Work is performed in an office and a laboratory/manufacturing environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms, occasional extreme cold below 32°F in production areas, electrical office and laboratory equipment.
