Company Description

The ‘mother’ company provides services across legal, tax, and consulting sectors and are expanding into recruitment with a dedicated focus on Legal Services and are seeking an experienced leader to join us as National Recruiting Director.

Role Overview

The National Recruiting Director (NRD) will lead the recruitment function across the group and establish a new legal services recruitment division. This is a strategic leadership role that combines internal recruitment oversight and the growth of an external‑facing recruitment business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Internal Group Recruitment
    :
    Oversee recruitment across all above businesses, ensuring key hires are made efficiently and aligned with growth targets.
  • External Recruitment Business Development
    :
    Build a legal services recruitment division from the ground up, with full responsibility for the P&L.
  • Team Leadership
    :
    Recruit, train, and manage a high‑performing team of recruitment consultants.
  • Business Development
    :
    Proactively seek out business opportunities, leveraging your legal sector network to build client relationships.
  • Strategic Input
    :
    Contribute to the overall growth strategy of the group as a board member.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end‑to‑end recruitment processes for all internal teams, ensuring high‑quality hires.
  • Develop and execute a business plan for the external legal recruitment division, focusing on growth and profitability.
  • Oversee the establishment and growth of a recruitment brand within the legal services market, in partnership with marketing.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a recruitment team, setting performance targets and leading by example.
  • Use business development techniques to win new clients in the legal sector and expand the company’s market presence.
  • Prepare and manage financials, ensuring profitability and efficiency of recruitment operations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • REC qualification or equivalent experience at Director level.
  • Proven leadership in legal recruitment, managing both temp and perm desks.
  • Extensive experience in leading and scaling recruitment businesses.
  • Strong business development skills, with a network of contacts in the legal sector.
  • Ability to work strategically, with a hands‑on approach to client acquisition and team development.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, recruitment technologies, and processes.

KPIs for Success

To ensure you meet the strategic goals, your performance will be measured by:

  • Successful internal hires within set timelines and budgets.
  • The development of a profitable legal recruitment division within the first 12 months.
  • Business growth through acquisition of external clients in the legal industry.
  • Team performance against key metrics (revenue, placements, client retention).

Recruitment Process

  • Initial Pre‑screen Interview with Head of Legal Services (via Teams)
  • Compatibility Interview with CEO (via Teams)
  • Final Presentation to the Board of Directors (in‑person, Manchester)
  • On‑Target Earnings (OTE): £140,000 (performance‑based bonuses)
