The Assistant Director of Development, Annual Giving will advance the mission of Miami University by planning, organizing, and implementing strategies to increase the level of personal engagement and financial commitment of alumni and friends. Particular emphasis will be given to securing philanthropic and volunteer support for the university’s Annual Fund through mass marketing channels.

Duties:
Manage the Tele Hawks Student Calling Program
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, and directly supervise 3-5 student supervisors and 35-40 student callers.
  • With support from the Director of Development, Annual Giving, create the job descriptions, training program, and manual for student supervisors and callers.
  • Develop and implement creative employee recognition and incentive programs to retain and motivate callers, improve performance and increase productivity.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Development, Annual Giving, create a comprehensive solicitation and stewardship strategy. This includes: establishing a calling calendar, determining calling segments and pools, managing data requests, developing calling scripts, follow‑up emails, text messages and fulfillment letters.
  • With support from the Director of Development, Annual Giving, establish goals for the overall program as well as individual segments.
  • Measure performance of individual callers in order to increase their productivity and meet overall program goals.
  • Collaborate with the Gift Processing/Advancement Operations team regularly to ensure accurate reporting and program goal achievement.
Annual Giving – Solicitation Efforts
  • Effect cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship calls to alumni and friends independently and occasionally with other staff, faculty, administrators and alumni volunteers.
  • Work with Annual Giving team members to support various fundraising efforts surrounding #Move In Miami , Miami University’s annual day of giving.
  • Perform other solicitation and stewardship duties related to the mission of the Office of Development under the guidance of the Director of Development, Annual Giving and the Assistant Vice President for Development, Annual Giving.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; minimum of one year of related work experience (volunteer work may be counted towards this requirement)

Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience in a financial, fundraising or sales setting; experience in an educational setting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Outstanding communication skills; commitment to collaborative approach to fundraising; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; and willingness to travel occasionally.
