Job Summary

The Project Manager focuses on delivering world‑class customer experience and quality. They are integral to the account team and key in building trusted relationships with the customer.

This fully remote position reports to the Operations Manager and requires a local Virginia resident who can support the Northern Virginia market.

The Data Center Project Manager will manage and report the current status of a fixed‑bid project schedule, scope, and budget/cost accurately and in a timely manner.

They execute job plans by coordinating and scheduling assignments, bidding, engineering, opening job numbers, and coordinating the materials logistics, crews, and tools required to complete projects on time and within budget.

The Project Manager acts as a single point of contact for the customer, sales, operations, and other AFL departments on data center fixed‑bid projects and prepares and submits customer‑required status reports and deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Conform and adhere to operational guidelines throughout the phases of presales, planning, delivery, closing, and post‑installation.
  • Monitor all aspects of project plans to ensure milestones, timelines, and budget targets are met.
  • Maintain data and system integrity and ensure accurate engagement setup data.
  • Align all contract documents via Job Manager (PO, contract, proposal, PnL).
  • Monitor risks and initiate proactive and corrective actions.
  • Manage change control and procure change orders.
  • Lead AFL teams and/or subcontractors/vendors to ensure timely and high‑quality work.
  • Drive the quality assurance process during all project phases.
  • Conduct site surveys, quality checks, and job audits.
  • Continuously expand/farm existing accounts for additional opportunities to introduce other AFL services.
  • Accurate billing schedule.
  • Perform weekly reviews of project and field budget trackers, project metrics system, invoicing, pending awards, accounts receivable, and material management.
  • Work with customer to suggest alternatives to meet needs and expectations while satisfying AFL sales objectives.
  • Provide customer support, including problem resolution and timely service, maintaining a strong relationship.
  • Understand and promote AFL’s environmental, health & safety policies.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in data center project management, including installation of standard cabling technologies, rack infrastructure and managing large‑scale build projects.
  • RCDD or PMP preferred.
  • BICSI certifications preferred.
  • Extensive experience managing new data center sites and mission‑critical data centers preferred.
  • Experience managing teams of 20‑50+ technicians on job sites.
  • Product experience with Corning, Panduit, Commscope, and AFL.
  • Familiarity with business concepts related to information technology and networking for operational objectives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, MS Visio, and AutoCAD preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Use of standard office equipment, mainly printers.
  • General hours Monday‑Friday 8:00 a.m.‑5:00 p.m., with support outside regular business hours required.
  • Travel may be required from time to time.
  • Must be able to work in the United States.
