The project: This role involves oversight of the refurbishment/remodelling of an existing building within a live prison environment. The project is at early design stages and will require oversight through to the construction delivery stage. This role sits in our consultancy business, specifically the justice sector.

This position will suit a candidate looking to further their career that is fast passed and industry leading. This is a client-facing role based partly on site where you will be responsible for managing wider consultant teams and project stakeholders and working with the project team to deliver the project successfully. This project is linked to a wider programme of projects delivering new prisoner places and therefore the successful candidate will be part of a much larger team of individuals working to deliver other works on site.

A great opportunity for a Project Manager to join our established Ministry of Justice sector within Mace, which is currently experiencing an exciting and sustained period of growth. The existing team has a proven track record of successfully delivering a wide variety of projects of the highest quality across the MoJ prison portfolio.

This role will provide experience in project delivery from early design through to construction stage to meet defined time, cost, technical performance and quality requirements. You will be highly motivated, understand developing a project plan, identify any specialist requirements and support with leading an existing professional team to drive forward the clients’ strategy. You will be responsible for management of necessary project governance and assurance tools to fulfil our obligations.

As Project Manager you will successfully lead in all aspects of delivery by building strong working relationships with clients and colleagues and supply chain members.

Please note: The role entails hybrid working with attendance on site expected - exact requirements can be flexible but envisage minimum of monthly visits during the design phase with a view to increasing site visits 2-3 no. days a week during the construction delivery phase. Remaining days working from home or a Mace regional office as required. EL1 vetting clearances will be required for this role.

Site location is Deviates, local Mace office in Bristol.

You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Determining project management, technical services and external resources required for project/s.
  • Delivering project objectives in line with the project execution plan, leads and supervises the project team/s and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitoring and actively engages in health, safety and wellbeing aspects of the project at all stages.
  • Preparing and modifies where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s.
  • Overseeing project time frames and project budgets and ensures budgets are managed diligently and highlights any risks, challenges and mitigations.
  • Collaborating with relevant parties/stakeholders and ensures robust quality systems are in place and suitably managed and monitored.
  • Managing relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis where required and site walks and ensures these are suitably recorded.
  • Partnering with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management.
  • Effectively coordinates and communicates with all project parties/stakeholders, ensuring completion of responsibilities/tasks and ensures suitable standards and records are recorded and maintained.
  • Documenting and takes ownership of project changes as and when necessary, tracking project changes.
  • Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You’ll Need To Have
  • Previous work experience in project management (or equivalent).
  • MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS (or working towards) or local equivalent.
